Executive Summary:
- Superb AI completed patent registrations in three countries for its data selection solution, Superb Curate, and Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) technology
- The company has built a global patent portfolio of 63 assets across Korea, the U.S., Japan, and Europe, accelerating protection for its industrial vision foundation model ZERO
- Chief Research Officer Kye-Hyeon Kim said the company will continue to strengthen its global competitiveness based on its philosophy that data quality is at the core of AI.
Superb AI (CEO Hyun Kim, superb-ai.com/en), an all-in-one vision AI platform provider, announced on December 00th that it has completed patent registrations in Korea, the United States, and Japan for its “data-centric AI” and “no-code AI” technologies.
The newly registered patents cover Superb Curate, the company’s data selection solution, and its Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) technology. Together, these technologies address fundamental challenges in AI development, including declining data quality, rising training costs, and limited adaptability to real-world industrial environments.
Superb Curate automatically selects only those data points that meaningfully contribute to model training from within massive datasets. This allows users to reduce the volume of training data by up to 75% while still improving model performance by 15%—removing noise from redundant data and enabling teams to focus on what truly matters.
PEFT dramatically reduces the training cost and memory footprint required to customize large AI models for specific industrial use cases. Instead of retraining an entire model, PEFT efficiently adjusts only a small subset of parameters, making it economically viable to build and operate custom AI models even in physical AI environments such as robotics and edge devices.
Since its founding, Superb AI has built a data-centric MLOps approach grounded in the belief that “the essence of AI development lies in data quality.” Beyond the newly registered patents, the company is rapidly securing intellectual property rights around ZERO, Korea’s first industry-specialized vision foundation model for real-world environments.
ZERO is an industrial vision foundation model capable of detecting new objects instantly using only text or image prompts. It adapts quickly to changes in on-site conditions and can be deployed in the field without large-scale retraining. In particular, in physical AI domains such as robotics and autonomous driving, ZERO is designed to respond immediately to changing industrial environments while maintaining high performance without repeated full retraining cycles. Superb AI has filed patents for ZERO in Korea, the U.S., and Japan, and received a decision to grant in Japan just one month after filing. Accelerated examinations are currently underway in Korea and the U.S.
These technologies—Superb Curate, PEFT, and the industry-tailored vision foundation model ZERO—form an integrated technology stack that spans the entire lifecycle of AI: from development and training to deployment, on-site adaptation, and continuous learning.
Based on this strategy, Superb AI has now built a patent portfolio of 63 assets worldwide. By jurisdiction, the company holds 22 patents in Korea (6 registered, 6 under accelerated examination, and 10 pending), 19 in the United States (15 registered and 4 pending), and 17 in Japan (5 registered, 1 with a decision to grant, and 11 pending), along with 2 European patents (1 with a European Search Report* issued and 1 pending) and 3 international (PCT) applications.

“Our technology has been developed from day one on the philosophy that the success or failure of an AI project is determined by data quality,” said Kye-Hyeon Kim, Chief Research Officer at Superb AI. “Securing patents in both the United States and Japan—markets known for their stringent examination standards—demonstrates that the sophistication of our technology is being recognized globally. We will continue to strengthen the global competitiveness of our AI technologies going forward.”
- Superb AI: An All-in-One Solution Provider Supporting Every Stage of Vision AI Adoption
Founded in 2018, Superb AI is an MLOps (machine learning operations) startup that supports the full lifecycle of AI development. The company provides a wide range of products and services that help enterprises build and successfully deploy AI systems. Its solutions enable customers to construct a complete, iterative MLOps pipeline—from dataset creation, selection, processing, management, and analysis through to model training, deployment, and continuous improvement.
From the outset, Superb AI has focused on supporting enterprises adopting vision AI based on images, video, and 3D LiDAR data. Its intuitive tools allow even users without coding or machine learning expertise to develop and manage AI, with a user experience streamlined enough to build deep learning models in just a few clicks.
In 2025, Superb AI launched Superb AI Video Analytics, a video-based AI solution that detects anomalies—such as fires, falls, and intrusions—in real time across large numbers of CCTV feeds, while also providing text-based intelligent search. Powered by multimodal AI and Visual Language Models (VLMs), the solution delivers higher accuracy and greater usability than traditional video monitoring systems, enabling advanced automation for smart cities, industrial sites, logistics facilities, and public institutions.
The same year, the company introduced its vision foundation model ZERO, recognized as Korea’s first practical AI model designed for direct deployment in industrial environments. ZERO allows users to perform desired tasks using only text prompts or example images, without the need for complex coding or deep ML expertise, and incorporates “zero-shot” capabilities to flexibly handle new environments without extensive pre-training.
Superb AI delivers AI solutions to more than 100 enterprise customers worldwide, including leading technology companies such as Toyota, KT, Samsung, LG Electronics, Qualcomm, Hyundai Motors, and SK Telecom. The company operates entities in Korea, the United States, and Japan as it continues to expand its global footprint. To date, Superb AI has raised approximately 49 billion Korean won (around 36.5 million USD) from investors in Korea and the U.S. and is pursuing an IPO with a target listing in 2026.
The company has obtained SOC 2 Type II certification, demonstrating its adherence to rigorous global security and operational standards, and holds more than 14 Korean and U.S. patents. Within just one month of its founding, Superb AI filed its first domestic patent, and it has since registered a total of 17 U.S. and Korean patents related to the auto-labeling and custom auto-labeling capabilities of Superb Platform. In recognition of these achievements, Superb AI was selected in December 2022 as the top-performing company (based on patent registrations) in Seoul Metropolitan City’s R&D program.
Superb AI offers Superb Platform, a high-performance AI development platform that supports the entire AI lifecycle on a single system, and Superb Service, through which the company’s experts provide end-to-end support—from consulting and data design to AI algorithm development and operations. In addition, Superb AI offers vertical AI solutions tailored to industrial sites, including Superb AI Video Analytics, Superb AI Defect Detection, and Superb AI Edge, which can be delivered in combination according to customer needs.
